8 newspapers “The Evening Post Jersey”, all with a wrapper sent as field mail to “Dr. Schlaegel Lw.-Kurlazarett in Kitzbuhel”. Kitzbuhel/Tyrol (Ostmark) was the site of one of a possible 10 Air Force hospitals that existed during the war. These were special hospitals where sulfur water, mineral water, hot springs and spa approaches were used for treatment instead of the modern medical approach. Presumably, members of the Air Force units stationed in the Channel Islands were in the Kitzbühel hospital and were interested in what was happening in the Normandy and on the island. Hence the newspaper mailings. Demand field mail from the Channel Islands, especially that with a wrapper, is not common. A historically and postal historical interesting lot.
