Unique cover from Thailand with extraordinary high franking

This lot is an extremely attractive multiple franking cover from Thailand. A total of 88 provisional “1 Att.” on 64 Att. (MiNr 22) with the portrait of King Rama V (King Chulalongkorn) decorate this comparatively heavy-weight cover from Bangkok to London from 1895. It was sent by registered mail with advice of delivery (“A.R.”) and took around 4 weeks to reach London. 

At the 61st auction of the Gärtner auction house in Bietigheim-Bissingen in February 2025, this special Thailand letter with multiple franking was auctioned with a starting price of €3,000 and a hammer price of €12,500.
