Our Development
Christoph Gärtner founds Handelshaus Gärtner ashis first company. The focus is on coil stamps and stamp booklets. Later, postal stationeries and a wide range of motifs follow.
The Sindelfingen stamp exhibition is the first event in which Christoph Gärtner participates as a dealer.
Gärtner more and more specializes in covers as coveted philatelic gems. At Philexfrance in Paris, he has his own booth at a World Stamp Exhibition for the first time.
At Phila Nippon in Japan, Gärtner presents his first fixed price catalog comprising worldwide postal history. Since then, the company has been represented at important exhibitions all around the world.
Collections and bulk lots constitutea new, vital part of the portfolio.
The company becomes one of the world's leading mail-order house for postal stationery and a specialist in thematics and postal history.
Auktionshaus Gärtner is founded. The first sod for the new corporate domicile is turned.
Handelshaus Gärtner and Auktionshaus Gärtner merge to form the 2,700m² headquarters of the C.G. Group.
Christoph Gärtner conducts his first international auction.
The portfolio is extended by numismatics.
Auktionshaus Pumpenmeier in Kirchlengern is taken over.
Gärtner acquires the auction houses Edgar Mohrmann in Hamburg and Rauss & Fuchs in Stuttgart as well as the complete inventory of the long-standing Detlef Hilmer company.
The new banknote division is established.
Former Auktionshaus Schwanke (renamed Auction Galleries Hamburg) joins the Gärtner family. The Auktionshaus Mohrmann company moves to the Kontorhaus district, the headquarters of Auction Galleries Hamburg. These two companies form the Kompetenz-Zentrum for philately in the North.
In May, Gärtner, as “Official Auctioneer of the World Stamp Show in New York”, auctions off exceptional rarities.
Gärtner launches Kompetenz-Zentrum West in Düsseldorf.
Handelshaus Gärtner opens an additional location for wholesale and retail in Bietigheim-Bissingen with 5,000m2 of storage area.
Currently, C.G. Group has more than 70 members of staff in Germany. The team is complemented by several cooperation partners throughout Europe, the U.S., South America, Asia, and Australia.
Rauss & Fuchs GmbH moves to the Bietigheim-Bissingen headquarters.
